PlayStation 4: Spider-Man Will Help Sell More Consoles

Shawn Layden believes the PlayStation 4-exclusive Spider-Man game will help achieve the console’s next big goal.

Layden in his interview with The Telegraph said that Insomniac Games’ next project could help push the PlayStation 4, which is currently in the sixties of millions, go over one hundred million sold consoles. The strategy isn’t focusing on taking attention away from the competition (Xbox One, Nintendo Switch), but make more people get interested in gaming who haven’t been involved with consoles. (A prime example of the approach is PlayLink, revealed at E3.)

In Europe, the social-based games are getting the focus, while in the United States, games like Spider-Man can get help Sony achieve the 100 million target.

Will the game be a killer app? We’ll see next year (in the first half, probably).

Anikó, our news editor and communication manager, is more interested in the business side of the gaming industry. She worked at banks, and she has a vast knowledge of business life. Still, she likes puzzle and story-oriented games, like Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments, which is her favourite title. She also played The Sims 3, but after accidentally killing a whole sim family, swore not to play it again. (For our office address, email and phone number check out our IMPRESSUM)
