A CD Projekt RED és a Dark Horse Comics új képregénysorozatot jelentett be Cyberpunk 2077: Chrome címmel. A négy részes horror-slasher történet januárban indul, és szerves része lesz Night City hivatalos kánonjának.
The studio’s first-person adventure is wildly ambitious, set in a universe originally conceived in the 1980s, with the Phantom Liberty DLC serving as a fitting conclusion to that chapter. With such a strong foundation, there’s no objection to revisiting this world in new formats, and Dark Horse Comics has announced a new ongoing series. The well-known publisher confirmed that Cyberpunk 2077: Chrome will debut in just a few months.
The four-part series is led by the creative team of Tommaso Bennato and Doug Wagner, delivering a horrific twist on the usual narrative formula. When the new story was announced, the creators teased fans with what to expect: “A group of friends, including a netrunner, a fire graffiti artist, an aspiring rockerboy, and an autotechie, head out for a fun photoshoot at a landfill. Amid the piles of trash, scrap, and metal, they find the perfect shot! But rumor has it the place is haunted — and they’re about to discover that Night City holds things far scarier than ghosts.”
The series is described as the first slasher story set in Night City, leaning heavily on classic horror elements rather than simply killing characters for quick Eddie grabs. Staying true to its theme, Cyberpunk 2077: Chrome becomes the thirteenth limited comic run tied to the game, all considered canonical within its broader lore. It’s worth checking out Dark Horse’s last release, Cyberpunk 2077: XOXO, which chronicled an intense gang conflict while also weaving in a Shakespearean-style romance reminiscent of Romeo and Juliet.
The first issue of the new comic is set to launch on January 16, with the following three issues to arrive at yet-unspecified dates. If history is any guide, a collected edition bundling all issues into one volume will also likely be released.
