A Sony nem feledkezett meg a PlayStation Portable utódjáról.

2011. december 17. Ezen a napon jelent meg Japánban a PlayStation Vita, ami a nyugaton nem lett olyan népszerű, mint a riválisa, a Nintendo 3DS. A hazai pályán viszont még mindig becsülettel támogatja a japán cég a handheldet, és meg is emlékezett a születésnapjáról a Twitteren, megkérdezve a felhasználókat, hogy mi is a kedvenc játékuk a Sony hordozható platformján.

Bár a nyugati régióban szinte teljesen el lett hanyagolva a PS Vita, még mindig készülnek rá portok: a Papers, Please, a 2046: Read Only Memories vagy a Stardew Valley is készül rá. (Illetve az Attack on Titan 2 is kap egy PlayStation Vita portot… de az nem jön ki majd errefelé.)
